乐竞体育赛事直播鈥檚 REME Award for Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) of the Year goes to an individual who advances the real estate management profession through demonstrated leadership skills, a commitment to community service, and most importantly, someone who has earned the respect of their colleagues, employees and industry peers. In short, someone with a passion for real estate management.
Last year, we found those qualities in Jesse Miller, ARM庐, ACoM, with Greystar AMO庐 in Portland, Oregon. I鈥檝e worked with Jesse myself and have always been impressed with his energy, attention to detail, and follow through.
Throughout his career he鈥檚 been the first to step up to fill a gap - for an interview, on a panel, or with training. In fact, real estate management training is an area Jesse is especially interested in, particularly in mixed-use property management.
What makes mixed-use property management education unique?
Until recently, real estate management education focused on commercial properties, or residential properties. Jesse鈥檚 been working with 乐竞体育赛事直播 to establish education that allows those with a background in residential property management to cross-train in commercial property management, and vice versa. Miller backs up the need for this training with numbers; 鈥淥f the $1.328 trillion spent on commercial construction in 2017, about 80% of that was some version of mixed-use. So, having professionals trained in both sides of that is important.鈥
So important that he successfully urged his company, Greystar, to introduce a live version of 乐竞体育赛事直播鈥檚 鈥Managing Commercial Properties鈥 course for mixed-use property managers on site, in Greystar offices. 鈥淲e hosted the first-of-its-kind, live, in-person version of 鈥楳anaging Commercial Properties鈥 for mixed-use managers here at Greystar in Portland, and it was a great success.鈥 乐竞体育赛事直播 enthusiastically supported this program, which was adopted by other Greystar offices and will be available for 乐竞体育赛事直播 chapter delivery in U.S. locations as well.
Jesse has taught classes himself on mixed-use property management in Washington, Oregon, Colorado and even at an event at the Renmin University of China, Beijing, to promote the field of real estate management in a new market.
The Millennial mind
As a millennial, Jesse鈥檚 interested in the future of real estate management, and how millennials can help shape that future. 鈥淚 started a lecture series a couple of years ago called 鈥楥onfessions of the Millennial Mind鈥 and, as a millennial myself, I feel like I鈥檓 licensed to speak to that, to a degree. What drove me was U.S. Census Bureau data that says by 2025, 75% of the workforce will be millennials, while every day about 10,000 baby boomers reach retirement age. So, even beyond the workforce demands, a massive percentage of our future clients, managers, customers and residents will be millennials鈥
With such a large stake in the near future of the workforce, Jesse hopes to share the positivity he brings to property management with his generational cohort. Even while we鈥檙e living through a global pandemic, buildings still need to be managed, presenting opportunity for those interested in a high growth career.
